The Act of Kindness Society, serving as the Implementation Support Agency for Dimapur
District under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), has successfully completed its outreach across
249 villages in both urban and rural areas of Dimapur. As part of its efforts, the organization
conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign aimed at
raising awareness on the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) of water supply systems. The
initiative focused on empowering Village Councils, Self-Help Groups, Church Leaders,
WATSAN (Water and Sanitation) Committees, Youth, and Student Leaders to take active
ownership of their water infrastructure.

The campaign emphasized several key aspects:
Regular Maintenance & Inspections: Encouraging communities to conduct routine
servicing of pumps and motors to ensure uninterrupted water supply.
Groundwater Replenishment: Promoting the construction of recharge wells to enhance
groundwater sustainability.
Grey Water Management: Educating participants on the proper management of wastewater
from kitchens, showers, and washing machines.
Financial Sustainability: Stressing the importance of End User Water Fees for the long-term
maintenance of water supply systems.
Record-Keeping & Monitoring: Encouraging the maintenance of detailed records for better
planning and accountability.
Village councils were urged to take full responsibility for the planning, operation, and
maintenance of their in-village water supply systems. By sharing success stories from
other communities, the campaign demonstrated how collective efforts lead to sustainable
and effective water management.
The completion of this initiative marks a significant milestone in ensuring safe and
sustainable drinking water for the people of Dimapur, reinforcing the mission of the Jal
Jeevan Mission to provide Har Ghar Jal (water for every household).
