Jal Jeevan Mission as Implementing Support Agency Dimapur

The Act of Kindness Society(AOK), as Implementing Support Agency for Jal Jeevan Mission in both Rural and Urban Divisions PHED Dimapur, aims to bring about positive changes in the communities through simple acts of kindness and compassion, creating awareness in the society for individuals to be responsible for community participation in all spheres of the society’s progress and growth. AOK is also an agency to spread awareness and promote developmental advancement in the society.

Jal Jeevan Mission is a flagship program of the Government of India launched in 2019. The mission aims to provide piped water supply to all rural households in India by 2024. It seeks to ensure access to clean and safe drinking water to improve the overall quality of life in rural areas. Jal Jeevan Mission is implemented through a decentralized approach, involving local communities, Gram Panchayats/Village Councils and other stakeholders. It aims to empower rural communities and improve their quality of life by ensuring reliable access to clean water for drinking and domestic use.

The Key Objectives of Jal Jeevan Mission are:

1. Providing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs): The mission aims to provide every rural household with a tap connection, ensuring access to potable water within their premises.

2.Sustainability:It focuses on the long-term sustainability of water supply systems by implementing source sustainability measures such as recharge and management of groundwater, rainwater harvesting, and watershed development.

3. Convergence: The mission promotes convergence with various other government programs to achieve the common goal of providing water supply infrastructure.

4. Information, Education, and Communication (IEC): It emphasizes the importance of creating awareness among the rural population about the significance of safe drinking water, proper hygiene practices, and efficient use of water.

5. Water Quality Monitoring: The mission gives high priority to regular water quality testing and monitoring to ensure the supply of safe and clean drinking water.
